This course will deal with legal issues involving international aspects in intellectual property law. Firstly, international legal frameworks on IP will be discussed. Specifically, multilateral treaties such as the TRIPS Agreement and WIPO-related treaties, and regional agreements such as the TPP Agreement will be explored. Secondly, topics related to disputes involving international elements will be analyzed with a comparative perspective. The topics will include, for example, international jurisdiction and choice of law, parallel importation, cross-border patent infringement, and extraterritorial damages.
